In the early day of biorhythm research, many books explained how the "discovery" of biorhythms came about following empirical observations. In other words those interested in researching the subject noted the effects of biorhythms. Then they calculated back from the conclusion to reach "the cause", of biorhythms, as they saw it. For instance Dr. Wilhelm Fleiss, one of the leading early researchers into biorhythms, worked through 10,000 family trees for 3 generations in an attempt to establish correlations and biorhythm patterns. Dr. Fleiss used notes taken from his patients, his acquaintances, his family and his friends. This huge project was undertaken before the invention of biorhythm calculators, or computers in any form, so the arithmetic had to be done manually, using a system similar to that set out in The Biorhythm WorkBook or The Biorhythm Kit. The Salvation Army holds good, probably the most comprehensive, records relating to British emigration in the 19th century. The National Archives , formerly known as the Public Records Office, or the PRO, is at Ruskin Avenue, Kew, Richmond, Surrey, TW9 4DU. The nearest Underground Station is Kew Gardens. At The National Archives they also hold ships' passenger lists. You need to know details of the ship's name, date of sailing and port in order to access information from these records. Personal research which were previously held at the Family Records Centre, are held by the UK Registrar General's office. The are the births, marriages and deaths, in England and Wales, and they go back until 1837. When the Family Records Centre recently closed the research service became on-line only. This hormone helps to regulate the sleep/wake circadian rhythm that (ideally) remains consistent from night to night. As we age the production of metatonin decreases. It is produced in the brain by the pineal gland and can be a sleep-aid. It also alleviates the symptoms of stabbing headaches, and may even play a role in the body's natural defences against cancer. It is an anti-oxidant and plays a significant part in the way the body uses up the fat it has stored. This is why it is often given to animals, particularly venison. The animals then produce more lean meat more quickly. Hormones, and melatonin is a hormone are the chemical messengers of the body, and even small changes in the levels of hormones in the body can have a huge impact on the mind and body of an individual. For this reason, even if you can get hold of melatonin you should only take a SMALL DOSE - THE ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM should be 2mg. Don't take melatonin if you are takiong other prescription medicines, and it is very unsafe to drive or use machinery within 5 hours of taking it. In the past it has been sold as a supplement to help the symptoms of jet-lag. Now, many countries, including the UK, ban the sale of melatonin as an over-the-counter supplement. This is regulated by the Medicine and Health Regularity Authority (MHRA), and UK residents may be able to get melatonin on prescription through their doctor. (There used to be a shop called the Jet Lag Shop in London's Piccadilly, but this first moved to less central premises, and now seems to have closed). If you can not get melatonin then another supplement 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) might be a useful substitute. 5-HTP acts as a precursor for the body to manufacture another hormone, serotonin, and the body uses serotonin to make its melatonin. In the US it is legal to buy melatonin pills. Elsewhere Higher Nature's Serotone 5-HTP costs around £9 for 30 capsules. Mail order from the UK is via + 44 1435 884668. When I first saw SLUMBERLAND Milk in Waitrose supermarket I suspected it could be a gimmick. However, on reading the label I noticed that this organic milk is naturally high in melatonin. The reasons are explained on the producer's website. Jacyntha's reasoning is that: on CAUTION DAYS in the PHYSICAL biorhythm we have lower levels of melatonin (among other measureable components). Melatonin helps to regulate our body clock, and also, to a lesser degree, our reactions times/speed, so it might seem sensible to use the extra melatonin in this organic milk to counter some of the effects of our caution days in a natural way. Slumberland milk tastes different to other milks, but this writer personally quite like that taste! The milk itself is quite expensive. Other Melatonin-rich foods include: bananas, cherries, ginger, tomatoes, corn, cucumber and rice, and do remember that some people find their body's natural production of melatonin may slow down by sleeping with the lights or the TV on. Many psychologists are interested in researching biorhythms. Terence M. "Hines", PhD, in his paper "A Comprehensive Review of Biorhythms" (August 1998), The Biorhythm WorkBook 83,19-64 helped us enormously to increase our list of references. Our point of view is that it seems pointless not to try something which wouldn't hurt you and might well help you. After all, if you don't benefit, you just move on! At the London Biorhythm Company our philosophy is to promote an understanding of biorhythms, and to help as many as possible to use this knowledge of biorhythms as a foundation for good health. In nature nothing exists in isolation! We are, though, without a doubt, fully aware that some, perhaps many, health issues respond best to allopathic (conventional) medicine. The home is where most minor and some major accidents occur. These, and other accidents, can be greatly reduced by using a knowledge of biorhythms as a "preventative" tool. Biorhythms are inter-conntected with our fluctating stress levels, and can be used to indicate a potential period for personal mishaps. I've been an Astrologer since 1976, and into Biorhythm Personality & Compatibility Analysis ("BPCA") for 7 years. I quickly reached the conclusion BPCA is the most accurate and concise system for judging compatibility in use today! As a result, I quit doing complex astrological compatibility readings in favor of the shorter and far more insightful Bio Compatibility! While we Biorhythm Personality & Compatibility Analysts are out there, there's no question our amazingly accurate (and possibly life-saving!) craft deserves greater recognition than it currently enjoys. For this reason, I would like to see BPCA gain world-wide acceptance. While this sounds quite ambitious, I believe it's within the realm of possibility, judging from how other types of metaphysical groups (Astrologers, WICCA enthusiasts, Theosophical Society, for example) caught the public's attention by forming their own official special interest groups. Exactly what would forming an International BPCA Organization involve? With this in mind, if Irene's subscribers were to join forces and organize our very own professional organization, I'm convinced "the sky's the limit" relative to the future success of our craft. (For example, I envision a possible future in which Biorhythm Personality & Compatibility Analysts are highly-respected consultants to family and couples counseling services, and quite possibly a far more reliable resource than those ubiquitous dating services!) The first steps would be to set up an official BPCA website, and spread the word far and wide through mailings and advertising. Like other noted organizations, potential members could be offered annual subscriptions, and benefits might include a newsletter, classes and conferences, a research cell, and possibly even a certification program. BPCA enthusiasts with literary talents could be involved in the gathering and compilation of literature, with a view to ultimately publishing a recommended book list. (When doing some BPCA research recently, I re-read issues of Irene's Mini Examiner, going back to 1999, as well as her Bio lessons, Personality Types, and other insightful instructional materials. There's no question Irene is a prolific writer, and that all of her writings should be published one of these days!) The BPCA organization's official book list might also include a Month-by-Month Biorhythm Ephemeris for the entire 20th and 21st Centuries. (Sample month on the back of this sheet.) Additionally, Biorhythm Personality & Compatibility Analysts with advanced computer programming skills could be encouraged to write software programs, to include Bio calculation options, and possibly even BPCA interpretation features.
